CRCC Wins Two International Projects amid Pandemic

Updated: 2020-04-24

China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) won bids for two international projects on April 14 amid the outbreak of COVID-19.

The two projects are reconstruction of the A380 highway in Uzbekistan, valued at about $99.81 million, and expansion of a freight railway in Saudi Arabia, valued at about 210 million yuan ($29.64 million). They are to be contracted respectively by China Railway 20th Bureau Group Co., Ltd and China Railway Construction Corporation (International) Limited.

The largest-scale highway infrastructure construction in Uzbekistan in the past five years, the A380 highway project is also a main part of the country's Second Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Corridor 2 Road Investment Program.

The renovation is scheduled to be completed within 36 months. Upon completion, the double-lane highway will be widened to four lanes and the designed speed will reach 120 kilometers per hour.

The other overseas project is intended to help improve transport capacity of the No.2 freight railway between Dammam and Riyadh.

The project includes expansion of the 21-kilometer side track with 7 stations. When completed, the railway's transport capacity will be increased, which will promote economic growth in the affected areas

Both projects consolidate CRCC's development in the overseas markets and lay a foundation for its future business.
