Yang Jie, chairman of China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd., has called for guidelines to promote information consumption with a focus on intelligently connected new energy vehicles, AI-powered smartphones and computers and smart robots to further boost confidence, innovation, consumption and investment.

Yang, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the proposal during the third session of the nation’s top political advisory body.
The Government Work Report described “intelligently connected new energy vehicles, AI-powered smartphones and computers and smart robots” as the “New Trio” that are becoming essential components covering various aspects of people’s lives.
Yang emphasized that the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation led by artificial intelligence is propelling human society into the era of “digital and intelligent revolution.”
He said that the synergy of data, computing power, and AI is forming a new engine for technological innovation, and the convergence of the real economy, virtual economy, and information technology is giving rise to numerous new industries.
Initiatives like “Internet+” , “5G+” , and “AI+” are paving the way for the integration of information technology into the economy, society, and people’s livelihoods, he added.
Yang said that with the applications of next-generation information technologies led by AI, the emergence of the “New Trio” of information consumption is expected to drive industrial innovation, unleash consumption potential, and meet the aspirations for a better life among the people.
Noting the “New Trio” has vast development potential with an estimated overall market size exceeding 5 trillion yuan ($689 billion), Yang said by vigorously developing the information consumption of the “New Trio”, strategic emerging industries and future industries will be nurtured and expanded, new areas and tracks for development will be opened up, new dynamics and advantages will be shaped, and the development of new quality productive forces will be accelerated, thereby promoting sustained and positive economic growth.
Highlighting the “New Trio” enjoys vast market and a promising prospect, Yang stressed their high investment, technological intensity, innovation, growth potential, and profitability and they hold crucial importance for investment stimulation.
He suggested prioritizing and vigorously supporting the information consumption of the “New Trio” in the next phase, advancing them through integration and innovation, policy support, ethical governance, and other aspects.
He called for driving the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation, working on core technologies, and enhancing governance to address potential ethical challenges posed by AI.
