Li Zhen, Vice Chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), attended the 10th Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong, where he also met with Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region John Lee.
In his speech at the summit, Li emphasized that over the years, central State-owned enterprises (SOEs) have consistently acted as pacesetters and pioneers in Belt and Road cooperation, making significant contributions to enhancing connectivity and driving economic development among countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Looking ahead, Li said that central SOEs are ready to join hands with various sectors in Hong Kong to build a multi-dimensional connectivity network to advance traditional cooperation on infrastructure projects and expand collaboration in new infrastructure.
He highlighted the importance of joint efforts in promoting innovation to energize development vitality, and working with BRI countries to establish joint laboratories and cultivate digital economy cooperation zones.
Li also called for concerted efforts to create a sustainable future through green transformation, contributing Chinese wisdom and solutions to global sustainable development with concrete actions.
While noting the importance of strengthening people-to-people bond through cultural exchanges, Li stressed the need to implement more "small yet beautiful" projects that benefit people's livelihoods.
Prior to the summit, Li, together with executives from 40 central SOEs, engaged in discussions with Lee at a symposium on deepening cooperation between central SOEs and Hong Kong.
During his stay in Hong Kong, Li also attended the second GTI Forum on Digital Intelligence and the "Hong Kong: the Preferred Platform for Mainland Enterprises' Globalization" seminar. In addition, he conducted a field visit to China Tourism Group.
Officials from relevant bureaus of SASAC participated in the above-mentioned events.
