As the morning sun rises over the western coast of Malacca, the China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN)’s Edra Melaka Power Plant (EMPP)—Southeast Asia’s largest and most efficient combined-cycle gas turbine facility—continues to deliver clean electricity, powering 10 to 12 percent of households on the Malay Peninsula.
As a flagship project of CGN under the Belt and Road Initiative, EMPP not only serves as a model of green energy in the region, but also inspires young people. Among them are Sofiya and Sara, twin sisters born after 2000 in Malaysia, who have become rising stars in this dynamic energy frontier with their professionalism and passion.
